Cancer affects us all in one way or another. It sneaks into happy lives and finds relatives at the worst possible moment. Bras for a Cause works tirelessly to fight that ongoing battle with funds and aid to local citizens suffering from this painful disease. “We don’t just support people with breast cancer, Bras for a Cause is for all men, women and children,” said event organizer Denise Olvera. She continued “we want to remind everyone that we redirect funds back into the local community right to the families who need it the most. We’re looking for new members and fresh ideas to continue the good work Bras for a Cause does into the future.”
Saturday, February 25th starting at 2pm, the 8th Annual Gumbo Cook Off will take place at the New Armory at 10 Main St. This yearly soiree features a gumbo competition, live music, this year Josey and the Whalers, and a masquerade ball. That is not all this party has to offer. Most importantly, this party offers the opportunity to give money and support to the people in our community that need it the most. So break out Auntie’s best gumbo recipe and try your hand at cooking a spicy treat for a noble cause.
Bras for a cause will also be hosting their annual Birdies and Bogeys charity golf tournament this summer. Competitors take on other teams as well as individual hole challenges in this all day fun event for golfers of all skill levels.
