The North Dakota State University Extension Office - Williams County and the City of Williston Forestry Department are holding the 2023 Spring Tree and Garden Workshop Saturday, April 15th. I had the opportunity to chat with Kelly Leo (the NDSU Extension-Williams County Agent) about the details of the upcoming workshop. Numerous experts and gurus will be on hand (and via Zoom) for this educational workshop addressing current lawn, tree, and garden topics. The workshop is for Homeowners, Gardeners, and Professionals and is FREE and Open to the Public.
If you want to learn about Raised Bed Gardening, Andrew Keuster from Handy Andy's will review how tall to build your beds and what to grow. Chris Asmundson (North Central Research Extension Center) will be discussing which Grapes to Grow in Western North Dakota (I didn't even think this was possible!), and Joe Zeleznik will be popping in via Zoom to discuss starting trees - how to plant, and diving a bit into Emerald Ash Boar and the preventative measures you can take.
The hands-on portion of the workshop will focus on Evergreen and Shrub Shaping with Bruce Johnson, City of Williston Forester, and Rojee Chipalu Pradhan, NDSU Williston Research Center, will present seed starting, seedling care, and how to prune. You can learn more about composting, water quality, vegetable gardening, pesticides, herbal remedies, and soil amending from those who know best! Pre-registration is required, and with 41 of the 75 allotted spots spoken for, today is the day to register! Kelly mentioned, "Last year was a very well-attended event, and we are looking forward to another great workshop ."She noted that the feedback from last year and citizen phone calls determines the workshop lineup from year to year.
