Dakota 660 Ice Racers

The sweet smell of racing petrol swept across the frozen lakes of North Dakota this weekend as the Dakota 660 Ice Racers took on the sub zero temps to hold their annual drag sled races. These racing sleds run the gambit when it comes to look and design and some teams don’t even bother with a cover for their sled because next year’s will be completely different and even faster. North Dakota sits on the edge of the sled racing circuit but it’s popularity is growing. Local legends Billy Blatnik of Badger Racing and Mark Weiskopf of team Weiskopf organized this high speed spectacle and they didn’t disappoint. They had been working on the track for months to get it ready for racing teams arriving from all across the Midwest. The Williston Trail Riders Snowmobile Club will be hosting our own home town races later this winter and all snowmobile enthusiasts and their families are encouraged to attend so stay tuned for more details.
